Review of Related Literature
In the process of carrying out this research, the writer made observations on the 
internet and found some related literature that is closely related to the topic of this 
research. This is the list :
1.
A Sociolinguistic Analysis of Taboo Words in “
Bad Teacher Movie
” by 
Anggita (2015). The writer used a qualitative as the method for describing the 
existing condition in the movie. The writer also used quantitative method to 
support the interpretation of data by presenting fixed percentages in numerical 
form.
The sources of the data were the video of Bad Teacher movie and its transcript. 
And the result of this research was found the four types of taboo words that used in 
this movie they are obscenity, profanity, vulgarity, and ephitet.
2. “An Analysis of English Taboo Words in Movie
 Get Hard” 
by Sanjaya (2018)
.
It is 
aimed to determine the forms, functions and motives of English taboo words which 
are contained in movie Get Hard. And this research used the descriptive qualitative

method. The result of this research reveals that there are 279 data of taboo words, 
which are categorized into eight categories of taboo words

A Sociolinguistic Study of English Taboo Language by Chunming Gao (2013)
. In this 
paper, the writer focused and investigated all the major varieties of English Taboo, 
i.e., bodily excretions, death and disease, sex, four-letter words, privacy and 
discriminatory language which are respectively defined and provided with concrete 
examples.

The Comparison of Taboo Words and Swear Words Used by Men and Women of Suku 
Anak Dalam in desa Balai Rajo 
(E-Journal of English Language and Literature. By 
Megika Fajri dkk. 2018). The aims of this research is to describe the types of taboo 
words and types and functions of swearwords used by men and women of Suku Anak 
Dalam, the differences of swearwords used by men and women. The data were the 
taboo words and swearwords used by the informants. The informants were (men and 
women) of Suku Anak Dalam. The writer used a descriptive qualitative method for 
this research.

Taboo Words in 
Borat
 Movie
(2017) This study uses the film "Borat" as a data source 
because it the conversation in the film uses a lot of taboo words. The results of the 
analysis of this study explain that there are 72 words that are included in taboo words. 
Of the ten types of taboo words, there are six found in Borat Movie. In addition, there 
are only four functions of taboo words that appear in this film.

Farisi, Adi, Endang Setiyo Astuti (2019)
This study is aimed at revealing the types 
and functions of taboo words uttered by the characters in Alpha dog movie. This study 
is under the concern of sociolinguistics, which is a branch of linguistics studying 
language and its functions in society. It also employed a descriptive qualitative 
method using the researcher and a data sheet as the research instruments.

Taboo Words Used in Hollywood Movie “Walk of Shame”, By Putu Sintha 
Handayani and Ni Luh Putu Krisnawati (2018) 
The aims of this study are to classify 
types and find the functions of taboo words. The data source is one of the Hollywood 
movies entitled Walk of Shame. Therefore, people can be more aware to use taboo 
words. Some methods and techniques were applied for this research.

Taboo Words in 21 Jump Street Movie, By Desak Gede Yulia Kusumaningsih (2019) 
The aim of this research is to classify the kinds, functions of taboo words, and the 
factors which cause the characters use the taboo words in the movie. Data were 
analyzed by using taboo words theory by Michael Swan and factors underlying 
cursing theory by Timothy Jay.
