THEORETICAL APPROACHES 
OF STUDYING ECONOMIC BEHA VIOR
The article is devoted to the study of economic behavior 
and attempted to investigate the category of behavior from 
economic, sociological, and psychological approaches. The 
subject of economic theory has been revealed through the 
analysis of economic behavior. The most important issue on the 
agenda is to meet the unlimited wants of the individual and 
the allocation of resources in the context of scarce resources. 
Concepts of economic behavior are grouped based on certain 
criteria, and their strengths and weaknesses are described from 
the author’s point of view. An attempt was made to develop an 
author’s definition of economic behavior by analyzing the views 
of Nobel Laureates on economic behavior. Based on the concepts 
of mentality, economic culture, economic thinking, economic 
behavior, and economic activity, the formation and movement 
of an individual’s economic activity was described. Based on the 
analysis of «homo economicus» and «homo sociologicus» models, 
it was investigated with examples that not only economic factors 
but also sociological and psychological factors should be taken 
into consideration in making rational decisions in society. This 
was justified by the fact that it is especially important, in today’s 
pandemic terms. The author tried to answer the following 
questions: What should be the economic behavior in the context

of the increase in unemployment as a result of the widespread 
introduction of innovations in the economy? 
How should economic behavior be approached in the context 
of the current pandemic, social distancing and lockdowns. The 
relationship between economic behavior and human capital has 
been investigated. In the context of human capital development 
as one of the drivers of economic development, changes in the 
requirements for economic activity were studied. At the end of 
the article, the conclusions of the study are described. Based on 
this, the measures that need to be taken in order to implement 
jointly economic, sociological and psychological approaches to 
the study of behavior our outlined.
