2.1.5 Homework Task Ten
One of the preliminary tasks standing before teachers in modern ELT communities is to be able to facilitate learning and engage learners with meaningful communication oriented tasks. Here the idea of teaching the language beyond the classroom comes as effective and maximizing the productivity of learning which is both challenging and as well as very fruitful. For communicative vocabulary class doing outside classroom activities and exercises can actually benefit students in many ways. For this I made a great use of modern technologies, mass media and the internet resources. To make the learning process more interesting, I share with films, listening tracks and even songs it also helps to enrich their vocabulary. Often I try to extend my lessons outside of the classroom on the given topic for example, if my lesson is about ‘weather and climate’ I may give them a task to observe weather and climate changes by writing their findings
down. Additionally, for this topic they can watch and listen to TV and radio forecasts and learn the related vocabulary and find interactive activities related for their task. Similarly, I can extend my lessons beyond classroom by the Use of the Internet online learning, which is always accessible. Some students are really keen on newness or playing different language games. In that case Internet based tasks should serve only for educational purposes.
Again, the most effective way that can be done outside the class is to involve my students to interact with native speakers. For this, we may go to sightseeing or historical monuments to communicate with native English-speaking tourists (it will help students to use sociocultural competence). That can help the students to get the most of the lesson and to be professional learners.
