Task 2
Some people believe that it is important to spend a lot of money on family celebrations (e.g. weddings, birthdays). Others say expensive celebrations are a waste of money.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
It is sometimes argued that family entertainment should be organized with lots of money, while it is generally believed that such celebrations especially expensive ones are financially wrong. Although there are several benefits of these entertainments in our life, it would be a good idea to invest it for other spheres such as education or health.
On the one hand, no one can deny the importance of entertainment such as weddings or birthdays in our life. In other words, the more you spend money on such celebrations, the more unforgettable they be. In addition, extra paid facilities in these entertainments can make people happier than those who participate in an ordinary one. Take American and British weddings as an example. Americans prefer to spend lots amount of money on their children’s wedding so that they recall their past life with much more happiness, while the traditional way of celebrating entertainments is often seen by the British. However, despite being unforgettable and more attractive, entertainment which comes at a cost of huge money would be not as useful for people’s life as others.
On the other hand, investing more money for education or health rather than others is vital in most cases. Hard work, deep interest as well as a better investment are main steps for children which can lead them to well-being life in the future. If one of them such as good investment is not done, youth cannot achieve their goals. In Finland, for example, the most share of the family budget is spent on children’s education in each family instead of consuming it for celebrations. Therefore, spending money for long-term purposes is significant.
In conclusion, instead of consuming more money for celebrations, doing it for our basic life factors is more useful and fruitful for both our present and future life.
