Roger: I’ve always loved the old lady. Can I come and see her some day?
Mother: Sure. You may pay a visit at any time, but don’t let my daughter know the address. Her granny can’t stand her joking.
LRRH: I would like to see my granny too.
Mother: Corny! You’d better lie down and go to sleep. I need to rest.
LRRH: If I only were on my own with no relatives, then I would be a nice girl.
Scenery II. (In the forest. LRRH is walking and wolf is sleeping under a bush.)
LRRH: She didn’t tell me where but I’ll find this house. Somebody’s sleeping. Wake up, lazy bones. I need your help.
Wolf: Go away, you can’t play here. I’m a wolf and I shall gobble you up if you upset me.
LRRH: I’ll call hunters, there’re some of them in the forest. Be quiet! I wonder if you can smell?I wish you were a dog.
Wolf: I’m a wolf but I can smell well.
LRRH: You can find my granny’s hut, can’t you?
Wolf: What shall I get for this?
LRRH: Would you like to get a pretty red cup? It costs five ponds.
WOLF: That’s a bad bargain. People will think I have stolen it.
LRRH: You’ll get a good dinner. Tell granny you’ve come to bring her some surprise. My granny adores wolves. Say to her you’re a faithful friend of mine.
Wolf: Will she really be pleased? I’m not sure. We are not as faithful as dogs.
LRRH: Are wolves so stupid? Or is is just you? He is arguing with me. Would you like me to call the hunters? Disappear! (she yawns loudly.) Now for some game. Let me have a look! Roger! Jim! Where are you? (to herself:) I hope Wolf got off. I’m going to the party, guys. You are invited too. My granny wants you to be her guests! She has sent me to bring you home.
Scenery III. (A tidy hut in the forest. Granny lives here. She is lying in bed. Somebody’s knocking at the door.)
Granny: Who is there?
Wolf: I’ve come to bring you some surprise. Your granddaughter said you would be glad to see her friend.
