4. What advice do you have for those studying about or considering a career in front office or hotel management?
You must enjoy what you do, and you must have a passion for guest service. You have to be able to put yourself in the
guests’ shoes. You must be flexible, willing to learn and to accept criticism, able to lead as well as follow, and committed
to holding your staff accountable. Don’t be afraid to take chances, think “outside the box,” and try new things. Consistently
practice sound financial management principles and operate the business as if it were your own. Our employee workforce
and guests are ever-changing and diverse. As a result, diversity must be a part of our business strategy. To hire and retain
quality candidates and to meet the ever-changing needs of our guests, we must value each other’s differences and
achieve a truly diverse workforce. We have to promote inclusion. Every day is different as is every guest, and our daily
challenge is to exceed guests’ expectations.
