15. Associated Accounts: Section is used to record the following information:

Group: Name of the group (if any) with which the guest is associated
•
A/R: Place for routing charges to a specific accounts receivable (A/R) account
•
TA/1 and T/A2: Place for recording to whom the hotel will pay any travel
agent (TA) commission that is due

Comm: Percentage amount of the guest’s charge to be paid as a TA com-
mission. Typical TA commissions range from 5 percent to 15 percent of the
guest’s total, pretax sleeping room charges.

Names of specific fields vary based on the PMS in use. Nevertheless, all systems col-
lect extensive information about guests and their reservation requests in the reserva-
tion screen. Even a modestly priced PMS allows FOMs to create a large number of
reports (many of which will be reviewed throughout this text), and because of these
reports, managers’ decision-making abilities are enhanced.
