tem using this approach is shown in Figure 5. Let’s look more closely at each of the
types of hotels and the guests who most frequently visit them.
Full-Service Hotels Full-service hotels in the United States trace their origins to pre-Revolutionary times.
Taverns were often the only locations where travelers and local citizens could consume
meals and beverages away from home. Today, in most cities full-service hotels have
assumed the tavern’s original role of hosting local public and civic events. They also enjoy
a significant market share of organizations that house travelers from out of town.
