Frequency of the contagious patient transport (number = replies)
The questions about the current procedures and way to approach the transport of the contagious
patient gives interesting results. The majority said that the EMS team is only sometimes informed about
the patient status / diagnosis (n=13) and 5 participants replied that the team is never informed. Almost
half of all the participants (n=10) said that usually informed about the diagnosis only upon arrival on
the location. 
The participants were asked to rate (on a scale of 1 – 5) their knowledge of procedures to use with
the patient that is infected with a contact disease / disease that can be transmitted via aerosols / other
contagious diseases. For all the three groups some examples were given. 
Respondents were asked to rate their knowledge in 4 areas: Approach to the patient / Contagion
protection / Handover of the patient / General knowledge about diseases. In general the results were
satisfying. The replies show that providers are more comfortable, and that their knowledge is very
good or optimal, about transport of the patient with disease that can be transmitted via aerosols
(n=12), and via contact (n=11). Figure 1 shows the replies to the question about the procedures for the
patient with other contagious diseases. There are two possible explanations for these findings. The first
is that the examples given have confused the participants, and the second is that the knowledge about
the contagious diseases is actually lower than for the other two groups. 
The final question asked for an opinion about continuing education; the replies are shown in the
