COMMUNICATIVE AND PRAGMATIC ASPECTS OF EUPHEMISMS IN THE ENGLISH AND UZBEK 
POLITICAL MEDIA DISCOURSE 
Abstract 
This article deals with the study of Euphemisms, which is one of the main challenges in developing Linguistics science. The 
issue undergoes of the diverse variation of Genteelistic words under the principles of politeness. According to I.R.Galperin, a 
phenomenal Linguist and researcher in stylistics, ―Euphemisms are synonyms which aim at producing a deliberately mild 
effect‖(Stylistics,p.173). Seminal contributions have been made to develop the ―mild‖ in other word indirect expressions 
substituted for one considered to be too harsh or blunt when referring to something unpleasant. Nonetheless, my observation lays 
on the euphemisms‘ usage in political media discourse. For a number of decades, many studies were held in the sphere, together 
with the study of political discourse, in particular of other areas of discourse, enfolding an eclectic range of subject matter. Only a 
few works in literature demonstrate the pragmatic aspects of euphemism. To fill this literature gap, this paper identifies the 
―communicative and pragmatic aspects of euphemisms in the English and Uzbek political media discourse‖.
