As a result, students like the way in which online assessments 
provide more easily accessible and more in-depth feedback than 
paper-based assignments (Al-Qdah and Ababneh, 2017). 
However, there is a problem with this. Te summative assign-
ment will provide you with extensive feedback. You are not like-
ly to be interested in it, though, because you will have completed 
that module and moved on to the next one. Te feedback you get 
from lecturers is not always subject-specifc. Much of the feedback 
will be about the way you have written things, the structure of the 
assignment, or the approach you took. Tese are general areas of 
academic work which could be applied to almost any other mod-
ule you are likely to study. As a result, even though feedback on 
summative assessments will reach you after moving on from that 
subject, it is worth reading and considering. Some students have 
a “feedback book”. Tis is a notebook that records all the feedback 
they have received on all their assignments. Whenever they are 
about to start work on a future assignment, they check their collat-
ed feedback from all their previous work. Tis helps them ensure 
they take into account the general feedback that can help them gain 
improved marks. You do not necessarily need to keep a feedback 
book. You could, for instance, copy all the feedback you receive 
on your assignments and paste it into a spreadsheet or document. 
You could then fick through that when new assessment time ap-
proaches. Te fact is the feedback you get on each of your summa-
tive assignments will help you with your future assignments. So, 
make sure you take it into account.
