The following problems and shortcomings in the field of employment are being solved 
and eliminated: 
➢
a large number of people in need of employment, a high level of unemployment; 
➢
Inefficient work on employment of repatriates abroad, lack of opportunities in this area; 
➢
Lack of opportunities to increase the number of home-based jobs; 
➢
commissioning of new capacities, modernization of existing enterprises (low efficiency); 
➢
A significant part of the created jobs is short-term and seasonal; 
➢
A significant part of the employed population is employed in low-wage industries, the 
informal sector and precarious jobs. 
According to preliminary data, the resident population of the Republic of Uzbekistan as 
of April 1, 2021 was 34 695,6 thousand people and, since the beginning of the year, increased by 
136,7 thousand people, or 0,4%. In particular, the urban population reached 17 581,6 thousand 
people (50,7% of the total population), the rural population -17 114,0 thousand people 
(49,3%). 
The resident population is calculated by adding the number of births and immigrants to 
the population at the beginning of the reporting year and subtracting the number of deaths and 
displacements. 
In January-March 2021, the quantity of births (live births only) amounted to 179,8 
thousand people and, compared to the corresponding period of 2020 (170,4 thousand people), 
increased by 9,4 thousand people, the birth rate was 20,2 ppm.

The quantity of deaths in January-March 2021 was 39,6 thousand people and, compared 
to the same period 2020 (37,5 thousand people), increased by 2,1 thousand people, respectively, 
the mortality rate was 4,6 per thousand.
