However, from the birth of capitalism, compulsory public education has played
a role in harming democracy and maintaining the wealth and power of the ruling
class. “Radical changes are occurring in what democratic societies teach the young,
and these changes have not been well thought through. Thirsty for national profit,
nations, and their systems of education, are heedlessly discarding skills that are
needed to keep democracies alive. If this trend continues, nations all over the world
will soon be producing generations of useful machines, rather than complete citizens
who can think for themselves, criticize tradition, and understand the significance of
another person’s sufferings and achievements.

In other word, “dominant education utilizes poisonous pedagogy mechanism to
undermine independent thought, a prerequisite for the ‘manufacture of consent ’. It is
only through a pedagogy that manufacturers consent that a society tolerates gross
distortions of reality as we are witnessing with the present war in Iraq.

American universities (currently dominating the world) can be largely divided
into leading research-oriented universities, general universities and liberal arts
colleges. The need for universities is expected to diminish, and interest in liberal arts
for creative thinking is expected to increase with the 4

industrial revolution.

revolution at the World Economic Forum in 2016 that “Digital revolution has been

Deep shift-technology tipping points and societal impact expected to occur by
2025 were shown in this world economic forum such as “30% of corporate audits
performed by AI” and “the first AI machine on a corporate board of directors”

development of AI and technology is increasingly replacing jobs of lawyers, doctors,
nurses, teachers, professors, CEOs etc.
Thomas Frey predicted that 50% of universities will be closed by 2030
considering rising costs and student loan backlash, demand for online courses,
discontents, and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
