Chapter 2: Stress Management 
Managers that are under stress preferentially view information and grudgingly seek other alternatives. 
These responses impair an employee's productivity at work; as a consequence, stress management is 
a critical skill that requires additional explanation. We started this chapter by looking at stress 
through the lens of a basic model. Individuals have physiological stress, mental, and social responses 
to four types of stressors: time, anticipatory, encounter, and situational stressors. 
One of the best ways to deal with stress is to eliminate it completely via well-organized and effective 
time management, community building and contributing improvement of emotional and social 
intelligence, and redesign of jobs. In spite of the fact that this strategy provides long-term benefits
implementing it often takes a considerable amount of time.

Unfavorable perceptions 
Conflicts over roles 
Unpleasant circumstances 
Control limitations 
Anxiety 
Conflicts over issues

Increasing one's resilience is the second most effective way to cope with stress. Better cardiovascular 
exercise and a healthier diet are required for increasing physiological resilience. Enhancing 
psychological strength, adaptability, and personal well-being means putting an emphasis on labor 
with purpose, reciprocity, and appreciation. These methods offer some short-term advantages, but 
they are difficult to put into practice right once. 
Short-term relaxation strategies may help lower stress symptoms when longer-term stress reduction 
treatments are not an option. Even though these techniques have a short-term effect, they may be 
used immediately and utilized again.
