Chapter 1: Self-Awareness Development
The first lecture began with an overview of the curriculum. Requirements for grading the course:
Following that, the lecture's goals have been discussed. They were expanding the knowledge about
awareness of sensitive lines, personal values as well as moral maturity, learning style, orientation
toward change, and interpersonal style.
Starting with identifying how people vary in their emotional maturity, values priorities, and cognitive
style as well as their attitude toward changes, many businesses have been able to handle interpersonal
disagreements, botched communications, trust breakdowns, and misunderstandings better. However,
self-awareness should be the first step for everyone since it may show one's strengths, shortcomings,
biases, attitudes, beliefs, and views to others. Many individuals are confronted with conflicting pieces
of information about themselves. These individuals get angry and protective when anything does not
agree with their viewpoint. As the phrase "sensitive line" suggests, this is where people feel defensive
or protective when confronted with the knowledge that reveals something about themselves.
Predictable and reliable information about a person is less likely to cross the line into sensitive
territory. In the event where a person's remarks contradict their beliefs, they must obtain a deeper
knowledge of themselves. Self-disclosure is essential for increasing one's level of self-awareness,
which is the ability to impart knowledge about oneself to others.
The following are the advantages of self-disclosure:
Psychological relief may be gained by talking about one's concerns with others.
Sharing with the right person might assist individuals in invalidating their understanding of reality.
Self-disclosure may aid in the reduction of stress and anxiety.
Self-disclosure enhances the physiological condition.

Core aspects of Self-Concept:
Emotional intelligence is the capacity to accurately assess and regulate one's own feelings and
interactions with others and has been highlighted as a critical component in determining leadership
and management performance.
Personal values are broad desired objectives that drive people's actions and serve as guiding
elements in their lives.
Learning style refers to the proclivity that people all have to perceive, interpret, and react to
information in a certain way. How one obtain information is one component of cognitive style, and
how individuals evaluate and react to that knowledge.
Orientation toward change is a phrase of ambiguity tolerance that relates to the degree to which
people feel intimidated by or have difficulties dealing with unclear circumstances.
