1. Objectives or purposes & research questions
The purpose of this study was to examine the validity of an integrated intervention program model 
for at-risk children (four to five years old) from multicultural families. The development of an integrated 
intervention program model was aimed to find and minimize factors that affect disabilities of young children 
at risk.
The research questions for this study were the following as: 
1) How are the procedures created for testing the validation of the integrated intervention program 
model for at-risk young children from multicultural families? and what are the results?
2) What are the early childhood teacher’s perceptions on intervention activities shown through 
validation of the development of an integrated intervention program model for at-risk children from 
multicultural families?
3) What characteristics do effective intervention program models need for children at risk from 
multicultural families?
2. Perspective(s) or theoretical framework
Multicultural perceptions and educational practices that teachers have developed over time in the 
socio-cultural contexts affect the quality of early childhood education for young children with and/or 
without special needs in schooling (Keels, 2009). This study will identify the significant factors that affect 
integrated intervention programs for young children with special needs linked to multicultural families and 
their schooling (Huntsinger & Jose, 2009).
In order to make culturally responsive early childhood education in school settings, the importance of 
support for children’s development and learning by understanding diversity cultural/ethnic contexts and 
applying its knowledge linked to diversity education in the class (Vygotsky, 1962; 1978). Teachers’ educational 
perceptions are affiliated with the sociohistorical aspect of the culture, which maintain significant socio-
cultural meanings and its practices through the connection between school and family.
