Alfred Burke – Appeared in William Gillette’s stage play
at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre in March 1952.
Richard Butler – Starred in John Arthur Fraser’s play
Sherlock Holmes, Detective at the Hopkins’Theater, Chicago, from
5 May 1901.
Michael Caine – Prolific cockney leading man who played
Holmes as a drunken actor in director Thom Eberhardt’s fairly
amusing comedy film Without a Clue (Rank/ITC, 1988).
Simon Callow – Played Holmes in The Seven-Per-Cent Solution,
dramatised by Denny Martin Flinn and broadcast on BBC
Radio 4 on 9 January 1993, with Ian Hogg as Watson. Six more
original stories aired on BBC Radio 5 from 14 February to 28
March 1993, with Watson played by Nicky Henson.
