Annotation
: This article illustrates the Impact and significance of literature in the 
upbringing of younger generation, in particularly in growing imaginative and cognitive 
skills.

We live in the modern world, in the age of computer technology. The Internet, 
computer games, social networks - all this has replaced the simple reading of books for 
people. We are taught to read from an early age, however, the older a person gets, the 
less often he picks up a book, finding a thousand excuses for this. 
There are several reasons of so-called 
“disappearing”
phenomenon called reading:
• 
cut-throat competition prospering in our world
. Parents have been spending their 
time to work so as to feed their family ,thereby losing valuable time on work instead 
of behaving their offspring and inculcating them love to reading 
The invention of the book, according to 
I. Brodsky, 
is similar in its significance 
to the invention of the wheel. The book arose in order to show a person what he is 
capable of. Neglect of books, their “non-reading” is a crime for which “a person pays 
with his whole life; if a nation commits this crime, it pays for it with its history” 
When it comes down to cultivating a love for reading, that reading should be 
voluntary and shared with the child. The book opens the child to "an endless world of 
fantasy", the joy of "traveling at the speed of thought." The
