THE IMPORTANCE OF ENGLISH IN BUSINESS

English is a lingua franca that is widely used all over the world and is dom-
inating almost all spheres covering the business domain as well. Furthermore, the current age
we are living in is business-oriented, and it means that there is a need to interact with various
people to be successful in business. English is implementing for a plethora of business purpos-
es such as marketing (advertising, promoting are crucial components of marketing), business
communications (verbal, non-verbal, written, electronic types of business communications),
partnerships, and the like. English plays a crucial role which is impossible to neglect its impor-
tance. Additionally, it serves as a key to open the window to the world for developing business
and enlarging its branches through communities.

Introduction
A language is a common tool for everyone to communicate, and it is undeniable fact. Although
two types of communication are verbal and non-verbal, the former one is much more effective as it
gives a chance to fully and clearly express the ideas and opinions as well. People around the world
use a lot of languages to communicate with each other.
English is one of the international languages and is becoming popular in almost all countries of
the world. This language has fast spread among communities and this spread can be traced back to the
era of English colonies over other countries. Currently, the English language is widely used in almost
all spheres, and business is not an exception.
Undeniably, English is a lingua-franca that plays a vital role in communication in many
developed and developing countries. It means that the English language is an official language
for communicating with the represents of the different countries for a plethora of reasons and
purposes. So, people around the world whose native language is not English are learning this
language for a better job and knowledge. There are several reasons to learn English, and the
prime one is prestigious of the language, and it means that knowing this language opens the
window to the modern world.
According to the statistics, well above 1 billion people speak English as their native language,
ESL (English as a second language), and EFL (English as a foreign language). English is used as an
official language for 68 countries out of them while it is a secondary official language for more than
thirty countries. So, it means that if somebody who wants to run his/her business does not know this
language well enough to communicate he/she will not be able to get the set targets.
