Pre-key (guestroom)
Making an electronic key for a guestroom before the actual arrival of
the guest who will be assigned to that room.
Prepaid reservation
Room reservation in which guests, prior to their arrival, provide payment
for their rooms. Sometimes referred to as an advanced deposit reservation.
Preventive maintenance
Maintenance activities designed to minimize maintenance costs
and prolong the life of equipment.
Professional association
Group of persons who affiliate to promote common interests
(which may or may not include business).
Property management system (PMS)
The computer hardware and programs used to record
guest reservations and requests and to manage the prices charged for rooms and other
services. The system also records and stores hotel sales data and other historical information
useful in decision making for effective hotel management.
Pull-out
Industry term for an in-room sofa that converts to a bed. Also called a sofa sleeper.
