Functionalized phthalocyanines allows the creation of
additional functionalities and hence the physical and chemical
properties can be fine-tuned to access efficient heterogeneous
nanocatalysts. One of the methods of preparation started with
coupling nitro-substituted phthalic anhydride with urea and
cobalt(II)sulfate followed by reduction of the nitro group
using
sodium
sulfide
nonahydrate.
