Anotation: the article is devoted to the issue of using authentic materials in 
teaching a foreign language, the interpretation of the term "authentic" existing in 
teaching methods. Various approaches to the definition of authentic materials are 
considered, as well as the role and functions of authentic materials in teaching a 
foreign language. The article presents an analysis of the effective learning of the 
English language through reading authentic texts in the English classroom. The 
article examines the stages of the development of students' cognitive interest in 
teaching reading through the use of authentic texts in English lessons.

В последнее время в методике обучения иностранным языкам стал очень 
популярным 
термин 
«аутентичный». 
Ученые-методисты 
говорят 
о 
необходимости использовать аутентичные тексты, аутентичное оформление 
учебных материалов, аутентичные задания и ситуации. Вместе с тем проблема 
аутентичности материалов, используемых в обучении иностранному языку, 
вызывает много разногласий, как в зарубежной, так и в отечественной 
методике. Это касается в первую очередь определения, что такое 
«аутентичность», а также того, как методически правильно организовать 
использование аутентичных материалов в учебном процессе [1].
