Exercise 3: Noticing Puns & Wordplay
Start  by  looking  around  you,  listening  to  conversations,  watching  comedy.
Notice  how  many  jokes  are  based  on  misunderstanding  phrases,  and  taking
words or sayings out of context. Notice puns everywhere. Even the best comics
have  them.  Notice  cartoons  and  headlines  in  newspapers.  Start  looking  at  the
words and sentences you write, and see if you can break them up. You will work
on these skills in the next few chapters - this is just the beginning. Write down
everything that you notice in your note book.
