Activity 1a Look, listen and say.  

Objectives:    to  introduce  ordinal  numbers  1-3;  to  recycle  cardinal  numbers;  to  enable 

the pupils to pronounce the sound  

STEP 1: Ask the pupils to look and say in their mother tongue what they can see in the 

picture and guess the meaning of the words in the picture. Ask the pupils to name the 

places the sportsmen have won.  

STEP  3:  Draw  the  following  table  on  the  board.  Draw  the  pupils’  attention  to  the  fact 

that  the  first  three  cardinal  and  ordinal  numbers  are  quite  different  from  each  other.

Activity 1b Look at Lesson 1 Activity 4a and complete.  

Objectives:  to reinforce the use of ordinal numbers; to develop pupils’ writing skills. 

STEP 1:Ask the pupils to look at the pictures in Activity 4a of Lesson 1. Draw the school 

on the board. Write on the board the following word combinations: the first floor, the 

second  floor,  the  third  floornext  to  the  corresponding  floors.  Ask  the  pupils  to  guess 

what  the  word  combinations  mean.  if  they  have  any  difficulties,  help  them  translate 

into their mother tongue.
