How can  we help reduce the level o f crime?

To  reduce  the  level  of crim e,  I  think  th at  we  need  to  provide  young 

people with a b e tte r education  about the consequences o f crim e - for 

both  the  person  com m itting  th e  crim e  and  any victims  -  to  try  to  e n ­

courage  a  m ore  responsible  attitu d e  from   a younger  age.  It  needs  to 

be clear to  people  th at  th ere  are  alternatives  to  crim e  and  th at crim e 

is never the solution to a problem . W e need to offer people m ore sup­

port, so th at they do not feel like they have no choice but to com m it a 

crime.
