INTRODUCTION (Abstract of the PhD dissertation) 
 
The aim of the research
is to determine the function, lexical-semantic features 
of simple, compound, declarative, interrogative, imperative, exclamatory and 
incomplete sentences as newspaper headlines and to study their stylistic possibilities. 
The object of the study
is the headlines of articles published in the newspapers 
"Erkin Qaraqalpaqstan (Free Karakalpakstan)", "Qaraqalpaqstan Jasları (The youth of 
Karakalpakstan)" and "Jetkinshek" in 2014-2020. Nearly 4,000 newspaper article 
headlines were analyzed. “Erkin Qaraqalpaqstan” is the newspaper of the Joqargı 
Kenes (Supreme Council) and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of 
Karakalpakstan, and the “Qaraqalpaq Jasları” and “Jetkinshek” are also read by a 
team of the readers, the three main newspapers in the country. 
The scientific novelty of the research 
is:
The placement laws and types (information-conceptual, information trop, 
abstract headings, titles of reminist-semantic type, nominative figurative titles) of 
newspaper headlines in Karakalpak linguistics were determined by prioritizing 
features specific to the newspaper publicist style on the basis of comparative analysis 
of newspaper headlines in worldly and Turkic languages ; 
The essence of the newspaper headlines, their lexical meaning, their informational, 
expressive and communicative functions are defined as a means of drawing students' 
attention to the article on the basis of the function of information transmission and 
effect of the journalistic style; 
The use of simple sentences, compound sentences, one-part sentences, 
incomplete sentences, declarative sentences, interrogative sentences, exclamation 
sentences, imperative sentences and their types in newspaper headlines is proved by 
factual materials and forming methods by the syntactic way are revealed; 
The lexical-semantic features and specific emotional-expressive influence of the 
proverbs, the phraseologisms, aphorisms, toponym, anthroponym, antonyms, 
numbers, borrowed words from the foreign languages and abbreviated compound 
words in the formation of newspaper headlines and the role of their punctuation 
marks in increasing the emotional-expressive impact force has been identified.
