NORTH AMERICA

North America is one of the six continents located on planet Earth. The continent is the third largest. North America is adjacent to many different islands. More than half a million people live on the mainland. North America connects with South America in the narrowest and most central part of the Isthmus of Panama. The waters of the Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic oceans wash the continent from the west, east and north. The relief of the continent is represented by hills, valleys, lowlands and plains. North America is famous for its water systems, this includes the Mississippi River, which is part of the largest river system. The Great Lakes are the pride of South America.
