my grammar and I

Rule:  The  two  elements  should  agree.  Men  ,  plural,  even  monogamous  ones,
have wives , plural. Boys , even non-freaky ones, have heads .
Or you can write the sentences differently and duck the issue:
Many a man cheats on his wife.
Each boy put his hands on his head.

A clause is a sentence-like construction with a subject and predicate, including a
finite verb (see
here
and
here
for an explanation of those things). Some clauses,
but by no means all, stand alone as sentences. A clause that can stand alone as a
sentence is known as the main clause ; anything else is a subordinate clause .
I can’t play the piano as well as my sister, even though I practise more than she
does.
I  can’t  play  the  piano  as  well  as  my  sister  is  a  perfectly  good  sentence  on  its
own.  It  has  a  subject  (I  )  and  a  finite  verb  (play  )  and  makes  a  complete
statement.
Even though I practise more than she does is not. It has a subject (I ) and a finite
verb (practise ), but it depends on the first clause (I can’t play the piano as well
as my sister ) to become a complete statement.
But it’s perfectly possible for a sentence to have two main clauses, in which case
they are called co-ordinating clauses and are usually linked by and , but or or :
I’m going to play the piece by Mozart and she will play the piece by Chopin.
I wanted to play the Chopin, but she had first choice.

I might play in the concert or I might decide to go to the pub instead.
In all these examples either of the two clauses can stand alone.
As  its  name  suggests,  a  subordinate  clause  carries  information  that  is  of
secondary importance to that contained in the main clause.
A subordinate clause often begins with a subordinate conjunction such as after ,
although , as , because , though , if , in order to , rather than , since , so that  ,
unless etc .
Unfortunately I won’t be playing, because I’ve broken my finger .
She won the role, although nobody thought she had a chance in hell.
Or  it  may  begin  a  relative  pronoun  (that , which , whichever  ,  who  ,  whoever  ,
whom  ,  whose  ,  whosoever  ,  whomever  ),  in  which  case  it  is  called  a  relative
