Structural Model Assessment 
Theorized in the model development are distinct causal paths from cognitive dimension, relational 
dimension, propensity to share knowledge, and self-efficacy & outcome expectations predict users’ intention to 
participate and share knowledge in online communities of practice. As shown in Figure 2, the hypothesized model 
provided a reasonable fit with the data. The observed Chi-square was 408.33 (236 degrees of freedom) with a

5. This indicates a reasonable model fit of the data. Further, the goodness of fit indices were also reasonable (

Additionally, the independent variables accounted for substantial portion of the variance in the dependent variable

hypotheses. Positive coefficients were found for the paths cognitive dimension, relational dimension, propensity to 
share knowledge and negative coefficient for low self–efficacy and high outcome expectations. Thus, the findings 
support the hypotheses H1, H2, H3 and H4.
