Optional Activity 3b Play “How many legs have you got?”
Objectives: to practise numbers;
to have fun.
STEP 1: Ask the pupils to stand up and listen to you. say
that when you say a number, for example, “5” they should form
a group of 5 pupils, hold hands and count how many legs they
have. it is ok if groups have not 5 people and 10 legs.
STEP 2: Ask the groups to stay where they are. say that the
next task will be more interesting. explain that when you say,
for example 8, they should make it, e.g. two pupils will stand on
one leg to make 8 instead of 10.
Play with different numbers and repeat the procedure. For
example, say 3 for making groups of 3 and then say 3 or even 2
and see how the groups will find out solutions!
