THE PREVALENCE OF SOME CARDIOVASCULAR RISK FACTORS AMONG 
STUDENTS

Introduction: Early detection of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in a timely and properly 
conducted prevention and treatment are of great importance for the prevention and the development 
of serious complications. In recent decades, it marked increase in the frequency of occurrence of 
STI CVD risk factors in the population and, according to many authors, many features mainly at a 
young age.
The purpose: Assessment of the prevalence of some risk factors (RF) for the development of 
cardiovascular diseases (CVD) among students of Samarkand state medical institute. 
Materials and methods: The study involved 115 students, the average age of 17,6 ± 0,9 years. 
All respondents anonymous survey was conducted in order to identify risk factors. We took into 
account risk factors such as smoking, hypertension, overweight, lack of exercise, family history, 
diabetes, hypercholesterolemia. The examination included a survey on the standard questionnaire to 
determine the nameplate data, family history, the presence of bad habits, the definition of 
anthropometric parameters, blood pressure measurement, and monitor traditional methods, 
assessment of blood lipid status. To characterize the BMI using the WHO classification (1998), in 
which the degree of excess or deficiency of body weight measured at Quetelet index: weight (kg) / 
height2 (m2). Measurement of blood pressure indirectly by NS Korotkov (office measurement) was 
performed on both hands three times at 5-minute intervals while sitting in a comfortable position. 
Heredity surveyed considered aggravated if there were indications of the development of early 
CVD in close relatives (<65 years of age in women <55 years for men). Smokers believe people 
smoked at least 1 cigarette per day during the last month and more or quitting less than 1 year ago.
Results: Among the students of the Samarkand Medical Institute, a high prevalence of active 
and passive smoking, alcohol consumption, poor nutrition, low physical activity, and abdominal 
obesity was revealed. In the female population, in comparison with the male population, the 
prevalence of body weight deficit, low physical activity, anxiety is significantly higher, and lower is 
the prevalence of active smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, poor nutrition, pre-obesity,

abdominal obesity, and arterial hypertension. The risk of hyperleptinemia increases in the presence 
of a burdened heredity for cardiovascular diseases, abdominal obesity, overweight, deficiency of 
end metabolites of nitric oxide, hyperuricemia and decreases with a normal body mass index and an 
average grade point> 4.5.
According to the results of our research, almost one third of the students (mainly girls) lead a 
sedentary lifestyle
.
Among the contingent of persons surveyed women accounted for 48.6%, the 
average age of 17,4 ± 1,2 years, young men - 51.4%, the average age of 17,8 ± 0,7 years. The 
frequency of occurrence of hypertension among young people as a whole did not differ and was 
8.5% and 8.9% respectively, while the average blood pressure in the examinees was 118,4 ± 3,7 
mm Hg. Ubiquitous smoking among students prevalent among young men -33.4% and 0.8% among 
girls. The presence of overweight reported in 19.3% of boys and 12.1% girls. Heredity SHA noted 
10.2% of boys and 12.3% girls. The presence of impaired glucose tolerance and diabetes mellitus 
was observed in 4.5% of boys and 2.2% girls, the average blood glucose level was 4,2 ± 1,1 mmol / 
l. The study of total cholesterol (TC) showed that 1.2% of boys and 0.5% girls total cholesterol 
content was above the normal range and the average indicator was 3,9 ± 1,4 mmol / l. Physical 
inactivity, according to the survey, was observed in 34.1% of boys and 28.6% girls, the majority of 
respondents were active lifestyle. 
Conclusion: Thus, the leading factors of CVD among college students were smoking, which 
was more common among young men, physical inactivity and being overweight. It is possible that 
information on a balanced diet, the dangers of smoking, active lifestyles, distributed among the 
population, could reduce the incidence and severity of the above risk factors. Can be effective 
obesity prevention programs, explaining the damage of this disease, and training a balanced diet and 
of physical activity within the primary prevention of CVD. In the population of medical institute 
graduates, an unfavorable situation has developed in terms of the prevalence of the main factors of 
cardiovascular risk. Adequate control over these factors is achieved by teaching students a healthy 
lifestyle.
