Abstract 

The new advancements in technology are continually being incorporated, adopted and 

utilized in learning English. This quantitative study focuses on EFL students’ attitudes, 

digital  literacy  skills,  usage  for  learning  purposes  and  language  skills  improved  using 

Social  Networking  Sites  (SNSs).  In  addition,  this  study  is  an  endeavor  to  examine 

whether students’ attitude  and digital literacy skills with students’ usage of SNSs for 

learning  purposes.  To  this  end,  the  data  were  collected  randomly  from  200  EFL  high 

school students in five international schools in Malaysia. The data were analyzed using 

descriptive  and  inferential  statistics  using  SPSS  version  25.  The  findings  showed  that 

that students had high level of attitudes towards using SNSs in learning English. How-

ever, the students showed moderate level of digital literacy skills in using SNSs. Further-

more, the students showed moderate level of using SNSs for learning purposes. How-

ever, listening, speaking and writing skills were the most enhanced skills improved using 

SNSs. The inferential results, using Pearson relationship, showed a significant relation-

ship  between  students’  attitudes,  students’  digital  literacy  skills  and  use  of  SNSs  for 

learning purposes.    Considering the relationship between variables, structural equation 

modeling  was  used.  The  results  of  this  phase  indicated  that  digital  literacy  skills  and 

attitude  significantly  predict  using  SNSs  for  learning  purposes.  The  results  were  dis-

cussed in the light of the literature and recommendation for previous studies were sug-

gested.
