Topic: Fantastic film trips. Grammar: Past simple and past continuous
Level: pre- intermediate
Objectives: to teach past simple and past continuous in the sentences
Time: 80 minutes
Materials: text book handouts, board and a computer, pictures, marker
Warm up: Ice-braker speaking activity
Objectives: to prepare students for the lesson, activate their background knowledge in top-own processing
Time: 10 minutes
Materials: text –book, board and the chalk
Mode of interaction: whole class
To lead in to the lesson, play a word game such as Hangman to revise transport vocabulary, e.g. bus, bike, coach, helicopter, lorry . (See t he Photo bank on pl55 for more words.) Write a word in blanks on the board, e.g. (coach). Ss work in pairs/ team s and take it in turns to guess a lett er.
If the letter is in the word, write it in the correct place(s) on the board. Also write it underneath, to remind Ss it's already been used. If the letter isn't in the word, add a part of the body to the gallows (head, body, left arm, right arm, etc.). Ss continue guessin g letters until they either guess the word or all the body parts are completed

Activity - 1


Objective: to enable Students’ to predict information about the photos and the texts they will read in Ex 3.
Time: 25 minutes.
Materials: copies of the text from the book as handouts
Mode of interaction: group work and pair work
Procedure: ask Ss to predict information about the photos and the texts they will read in Ex 3. However, first look at the photos and elicit briefly what Ss know about the films. Don 't confirm any details about the films until after Ex 4. Check th equestions and give Ss 3-4 mins to discuss the questions in pairs. In feedback, elicit Ss' predictions and write some of them on the board - but don't confirm if they are correct or not.
