SIDEWALL CORING SYSTEM

       For accurate determination of the lithological composition 

of rocks during drilling of the well is used coring.  

       For  coring  on  the  practice  of  drilling  use  the  following 

tools: core receiver, a sampler and a core cutter. Coring can be 

made as a rotary and turbine drilling method, it is necessary to 

comply  with  certain  regimes.  The  quality  of  core  selection  is 

estimated by the completeness of core filling and core height.  

       However,  when  drilling  wells  after  passing  a  certain  area 

there  is  a  situation  in  which  it  is  necessary  to  determine  the 

composition of the rock that has already been drilled and then 

there is a problem of lateral core selection. 

        In this regard, we have proposed to carry out core samples 

using the Sidewall Coring System. 

         The advantages of this coring system are high speed, low 

cost,  and  the  precise  ability  to  sample  zones  of  interest  after 

open  hole  logs  have  been  run.  Therefore,  we  think  that  this 

system will  be  used  more  often  than  traditional  method  of 

coring.
