ESTIMATION OF OPTIMUM OPERATION  

CONDITION IN OIL WELLS

In  this  work  the  current  set  of  methods  which  allow  to

determine the optimal operating  condition  of production wells 

were  analyzed.    Currently,  with  rapid  development  of  digital 

technology, more information is  available on determination of 

optimized  operation  of  oil  wells.    Measurements  of  wellhead 

and  downhole  pressure  and  temperature  sensors  carried  out  in 

real time made it possible to apply new methods for diagnosing 

well  conditions  without  special  research  operations.    The 

analysis performed allows selection of a method for estimation 

of  the  optimal  operating  condition  for  each  particular  well, 

considering its specific features. 

 Some  technological  indicators  are  measured  by 

instruments  (Permanent  Bottom  Hole  Gauge),  some  based  on 

laboratory  tests  (water  cut),  and  the  others  on  the  basis  of 

calculations.  All these methods of gathering data have an error 

that  can  lead  to  significant  deviation  in  estimation  of  the 

optimal operating condition of the well.  

Therefore, detailed sensitivity analysis and assessment on 

the specified error range of the input parameters is required to 

understand the impact on accuracy of the applied computation 

models. 

 There are modern software packages for diagnosing and 

predicting the optimum operating point of a well, which greatly 

facilitates  the  decision-making  process  for  petroleum 

engineers.
