Types of sentences

The actuality of the course work: Within the introduction part we gave the brief description of our course paper. The main part of the work includes several items. There we discussed such problems as the types of sentences in English, their classification, and etc. In the conclusion to our work we tried to draw some results from the scientific investigations made within the present course paper. In bibliography part we mentioned some sources which were used while compiling the present work. It includes linguistic books and articles dealing with the theme, a number of used dictionaries and encyclopedias and also some internet sources.
The theme of my course paper sounds as following: «Types of Sentence in English». Before beginning of investigation in our theme, I would like to say some words dealt with the theme of my course paper.
Methods of investigation: When studying the structure of a unit, we find out its components, mostly units of the next lower level, their arrangement and their functions as parts of the unit. Many linguists think that the investigation of the components and their arrangement suffices. Thus Holliday writes: «Each unit is characterized by certain structures. The structure is a symptomatic framework of interrelated elements, which are paradigmatically established in the systems of classes and stated as values in the structure…. if a unit 'word' is established there will be dimensions of word-classes the terms in which operate as values in clause structures: given a verb /noun/ adverb system of word classes, it might be that the structures were admitted in the clause but NVA excluded».
Standing on such ground, would like to point out tasks and aims of work
1. The first task of my work is to give definition to term «sentence».
2. The second task is to describe the structure of sentences in English.
3. The last task of my work is to characterize types of parts of the sentence.
In a larger perspective, writing in English is complex. Not only in Indonesia, teaching and learning English writing is also complicated, as it is perceived in the community of other speakers of English. For example, “English writing instruction is very difficult, but the task is even greater EFL context” . Thailand considers English as a foreign language and Indonesia considers in that way as well. As a result, this condition has led many researchers in the field of English to conduct research about teaching of English; however, conducting research that focuses on online English writing is numerically limited for different reasons, especially research that is conducted in the context of Indonesian academia Besides, this research leads a purpose to shape “teachers’ perceptions and understanding of genre pedagogy principles”; moreover, it is “crucial since teachers frame the overall process of the teaching in their particular classrooms” . This research presents some perspectives on which kinds of English sentences that students use generally in their writing. In line with above purposes, this research has been formulated to answer the following question: “Which type of sentences that are commonly found in EFL students’ online paragraph assignments?” In order to define key terms in this research, we use dictionary approach. In other words, defining terms in this research follows the idea of constitutive definitions, or the terms are derived from dictionary approach . Besides, we also incorporate terms that had been specified by researchers in the field of English composition.
