CEREMONIAL SONGS IN “DĪWĀNLUGHĀT AL-TURK” - 
“COMPENDIUM OF THE LANGUAGES OF THE TURKS”

ABSTRACT 
In  this  article,  Mahmud  Kashgari's―DīwānLughāt  al-Turk‖  discusses  the  seasonal  and 
ceremonial songs. Mahmud Kashgari is one of the greatest scholar of the 11th century. His work 
―DīwānLughāt al-Turk‖―Compendium of the languages of the Turks‖is one of the rare sources 
of world  Turkology. It  can be called a linguistic-literary encyclopedia of Turkic studies. At  the 
same  time,  the  book  provides  valuable  information  about  the  folklore,  history,  mythology  and 
geography of the Turkic peoples of that time.
