TERMINOLOGY OF INTERNATIONAL TOURISM AND PROBLEMS OF
ITS TRANSLATION

One of the areas that make a significant contribution to the growth of our
country and the development of our national economy is tourism. Uzbekistan is one
of the countries with great potential in this area. There are more than 7,300 cultural
heritage sites in the country, most of which are included in the UNESCO list. At the
same time, using the unique nature of our country, the opportunities of beautiful
recreation areas, it is possible to open new tourist routes. With the active involvement

of world brands in this field, we need to pay special attention to the development of
pilgrimage tourism, ecological, educational, ethnographic, gastronomic tourism and
other sectors of the industry.[1] In this regard, we must take into account that the use
of public-private partnership opens up great opportunities for the development of the
industry. It is well known that any change in society, whether in the field of science
and technology or economics or education, has a direct impact on linguistics. In our
country, too, the tourism industry has received a lot of attention since the early years
of independence, and in the coming years, huge changes and innovative projects are
being implemented in this area. The head of our country Sh.Mirziyoyev in his address
to the Oliy Majlis in 2018, focused on the tourism sector and its further development.
Since then, the industry has undergone significant changes, a number of measures
have been taken to increase the tourist potential of the country, and a number of new
tourist attractions have been created to increase the interest of tourists in our country.
This, in turn, leads to significant research in linguistics and the terminological
system.
Tourism is an influential field not only in showcasing interethnic national
traditions, values or history, but also in enhancing the vocabulary of a language.
Through tourism, the vocabulary of a particular language can be enriched by external
influences. In addition, tourism in the field of terminology will have an impact on the
development of terminology.
Terminology is one of the most important areas of modern linguistics.
Terminology allows you to create new words in a language. Terminology, in turn,
consists of terms. Terms can have different meanings in society depending on the
systems of different fields, or they can create new lexical meanings depending on the
field in which they are used. The introduction of new technology in any field or the
creation of some modern innovations indicates the rapid growth of terminology in
that field. When we studied the views of linguists (Z. Harris, I.F. Frieses, A.V.
Kalinin, U. Tursonov) on the emergence of terminology and terms, they noted that it
is inextricably linked with the development of science and technology.[2]

Like linguistics, terminology is divided into two sections of go. Similarly to
the theory of applied linguistics, there is also the theory of applied terminology and a
number of areas of practical terminology. The Uzbek Terminology School is working
on the following areas of practical terminology:
1) Lexicographic terminology;
2) the unification of terms and terminological systems, which includes the
ordering, theoretical and applied standardization and harmonization of terms, the
work of the editor on the terms (terminological editing);
3) Translation of terms in the framework of the translation of scientific,
technical and other special texts;
4) Creation of terminological data banks or LDPs; Of course, practical
terminological activity is not limited only to the above-mentioned areas. But it is
worth noting that they are all interconnected and define each other.
The problem of translating terms and compiling industry-specific
terminological dictionaries is one of the topical problems of modern linguistics. In
recent decades, this issue has been actively discussed by scientists around the world.
This problem is directly related to the continuous process of formation and
development of individual industry terminology systems, whose fixation and system
description are of great interest to modern scientists and are needed by industry
specialists.
The relevance of studying the problems of translating the terms of international
tourism is due, first of all, to the spread of international relations, the expansion of
cooperation between domestic and foreign companies, as well as the ever-increasing
volume of communication in this professional field. As you know, in intercultural
and interlanguage communication, the equivalence of terms is a fundamental element
for processing information in a special text.
We would like to dwell on the problem of translation of terms in scientific,
technical and other special texts. When translating special texts, the most important
thing is a clear, correct translation of terms. Recently, at international conferences

and seminars for translators, the main topic is the problem of translation of terms in
general and the choice of translation methods in particular.
In the Western scientific community, there are four methods for translating
terms that have the specific characteristics of the corresponding foreign language: the
use of a functional equivalent inherent in the country's cultural and linguistic
traditions
