Several languages have become extinct as time goes on. However,
this might potentially make our lives easier since there will be fewer
languages to learn.
Do you agree with this statement?
At a time when
everything is changing rapidly, English as a
universal language enables cross-cultural interaction. This means that
many languages become extinct each year, which some people do not
consider to be important, as they believe that life without so many
languages will be easier. I do not agree with this view, as I believe it has a
negative impact on the cultural identities of millions of people around the
world, and it leads to cultural loss.
Several issues have arisen as a result of the
extinction of minority
languages. Firstly, the spread of the English language threatens to destroy
the cultural identities of people of other ethnicities. More precisely, the
widespread use of English can exacerbate the feeling of cultural inferiority
of those who speak languages that are less popular. 
Secondly
, when other languages fade, we also experience a loss of
culture. For example, Latin is a defunct language since, at present, almost
nobody can speak it. Hence, the culture that supports Latin has almost
disappeared. When cultural loss takes place, the extinction of cultural
heritage, including traditional values, also occurs. Several important
values, such as family and education, are greatly regarded in some
cultures, and hence, losing those cultures would threaten those values.
To summarize,
while English is a language that allows for cross-
cultural interaction, other languages are just as important. I truly believe
that non-English languages should be treated with respect and that they
should be safeguarded and preserved.
