Hometown
I come from a quaint city called Bukhara which is located in the south-east of Uzbekistan. It is a small city with about 2 million population and is regarded as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Central Asia because of its rich cultural heritage, centuries-old historical monuments and unique traditions.
I was born and bred in this city. To be honest, I am a bit of patriot and I love my hometown. This city gave me everything I needed when I was growing up. I can`t even imagine myself living anywhere else in the future.
As I said earlier, my hometown is a quaint and old-fashioned city. The city is comprised of two parts: the old city and the new one. There are mainly sightseeing places and pilgrimage sites in the old city whereas business centers, shopping malls and other government buildings are located in the new one.
Home
I live in a flat in the centre of Bukhara. My flat is on the third floor of a 5-storey block of flats. It is a 70 square meter flat with all the facilities and comforts.
For the time being, I am living with my parents, but I hope I will be able to get into Westminster University in a month time and I will move to Tashkent. There, I think I will be living in the dormitory. (I have been living with my husband and my children in this flat for the last couple of years. However, we are considering to move to a house in the future.)
That`s actually the biggest disadvantage of living in a flat. I mean, there are only two rooms in our flat. It is too uncomfortable because you don`t have any privacy.
My favourite room is the living room. Because that`s where we gather up and spend time together with my family watching TV and having supper.
Most of the walls in our flats are decorated with wallpapers with intricate floral patterns.
We want to do up our flat in a minimalistic design and repaint some of the walls in the kitchen and renew tiles in the bathroom.
Actually, we are considering to move house in the near future. We want to move to countryside to avoid heavy traffic and noise. We are looking for a cottage or a country-house.
Since I live in the city centre, there are almost the facilities available in the vicinity such as shopping malls, bus stations, banks, schools and hospitals. Moreover, it is a 10-minute way to the train station.
Our neighborhood is regarded as the safest place in the city because there are CCTV cameras almost everywhere. In addition, we have several playgrounds for children, theme parks and sports halls in the neighborhood. For this reason, there is a high demand for the flats in our neighborhood.
About two or three decades ago, the vast majority of people used to live in traditional Uzbek houses. However, with ever-increasing population in the city and a huge influx of people moving from the countryside to the city, many people are now shifting to flats. Because they are relatively cheaper to buy and to sustain.
Art
I have to admit that I do not have any talents related to art. I have never been good at music or drawing. My mind tends to work more favourably towards numbers. Therefore, math is my favourite subject.
Yes, we had drawing and music lesson included in our curriculum up to the 9th grade. But I always got bored during these lessons.
I have always wanted to become a movie actor. Acting is my favourite form of art but I don`t possess the requisite characteristics such as a good voice, charisma and innate talent.
Art is quite popular in our country, especially singing and dancing. There is an increasing number of young people who want to become actors and singers. Because these forms of art have become a vehicle for self-promotion on social media, whereby they want to gain fame and become popular.
