Annotation.
This article provides detailed information and recommendations on the
various ways to express hyperbole in numbers, on how to naturally express hyperbole in numbers.
Keywords.
Quantitative semantics, use of hyperbole with numbers, use of numbers with
hyperbole, means of hyperbolization
Along with substantive means denoting quantity, in order to achieve a hyperbolic effect, the
authors use numerals, the quantitative semantics of which becomes aesthetically significant when
expressively designating quantities that are important for the ideological and artistic content of
works.
In addition to the pronominal word one in the meaning of a quantitative numeral name (Dear
literary brothers! / How happy I am because / that in the midst of common grace / they cover me
alone; I live in a lonely gatehouse, / one-one in the whole world (A. Voznesensky); From perjury to
fiction - one step; The top of popularity is when the whole world hates one person (Don Aminado);
Out of 100 witty one is smart (V. Klyuchevsky); All life is one or two nights (A. Pushkin); Preach
from the pulpit, to captivate from the podium, to teach from the pulpit is much easier than to raise
one child (A. Herzen)) hyperbolic means are the names of ("round" numbers: these are numerals
consisting of one followed by zeros, in an indefinitely quantitative value. Such names are numerals
are a hundred, a thousand, a million '. You know me for a thousand years, and you don't know me
... (N. Vetlitskaya "Study me ..."), and more amusing and tolerable, / Than a thousand helpful
friends. explicit) / He made a hundred in a month funny enemies... (M. Lermontov).
The extreme degree of manifestation of the sign and the departure from the real measure in
the numeral million are especially clearly visible. In ordinary perception, a very large number - a
million - exists as something unidentifiable with a real value, hence the naturalness of the
hyperbolic use of this numeral: Millions of you We are darkness, and darkness, and darkness ... (A.
Blok). Among the names of numerals as a means of hyperbolization, one can name the numeral
two: The whole state procedure consists in two methods: in shaking hands and in assault (P.
Vyazemsky); I love underpants hanging upside down, / in the frost, like a cathedral / from two bell
towers ... (A. Voznesensky); Leave the sufferer! - be calm: wherever this holy world is, you are

worthy of two lives in your heart! And one is enough for me (M. Lermontov); A person is
bifurcated from below, and not from above, - so that two supports are more reliable than one (K.
Prutkov); however, cf.: And under this suspended world, a second, opposite one will be located
below, with its own poet / this, with its toastmaster ... (A. Voznesensky).
Other numerals are also productive in creating hyperbole: We have five thousand miles
from thought to thought (P. Vyazemsky); And again G. sold his immortal soul for 8 rubles. (I. Ilf);
It was not a play, but an insult in four acts (E. Meek); With a hundred-ruble note you will be
dropped off the tram: you must have a quarter. Life is like a tram (G. Landau); At the age of six I
wanted to be Columbus, at seven I wanted to be Napoleon, and then my claims constantly grew (S.
Dali); And drinkers live up to 120 years. But is this eulife? (D. Rudy); Methuselah is 969 years old,
but at 600 he looked so young that no one gave him more than 350 ti (A. Sovi); Remember this
world as long as You can remember, / and in a thousand years and more / You will cry out, and a
wild rose will scratch in You ... / And - nothing more; But a thousand times ashamed, / what looks
into our eyes ... / the bashful beauty / of the most crystal-clear country - / ... the shy trembling / of
the most shy groves ...; He sighed on his own a thousand years ago: / "Oh, Osip ..."; You are flying
near Moscow, / good to chills, / all your disguise is 30 meters of ozone!; ...on shooting ranges / at
10 points / I tried to hit 100 / thanks for being wrong,.,; Buying a trendy blazer. / eight buttons on
it. / I’ll press the button, someone sober / says in me: “Reception, / The subscriber does not answer
or is temporarily not available / the ringing of gold And he knows his thoughts and deeds in
advance ...” (L. Voznesensky).
The numeral acts as an important property of creating a hyperbole in the idiostyle of A.
Voznesensky: In the human body / ninety percent of water, / as, probably, in Paganini / Ninety
percent of love!; The third day I'm waiting for the homeless. / He stole my soul; ... (there is a secret
brotherhood of sufferers of freedom, / who lived with us for these terrible three years) - / everyone
was homeless - from the crowds to the leader; They buried us wisely and mother a hundred times, /
we will “transport you with happiness”, motherfuckers! .. There are many of us. There may be four
of us. / We rush in the car like hell; ... the enemy sits in the liver, / smokes smport tobacco. / Four
cigarettes an hour. / It kills a day / forty thousand horses; Plisetskaya is the pole of magic / She
screws the hall into a furious funnel / of her thirty-two fouettes, / of her temperament...; Four
thousand souls flicker like midges; And for that I endowed / you with the sight of graves / from
twelve thousand pairs of eyes; Steppe Twelve thousandth view; Rivers rushed back - to the
sources, / Back - from the finish line to the start in reverse / motorcyclists rushed ... The bullet,
flying out of Mayakovsky's heart, / flying through a burnt hole on his shirt, / darted into the barrel
of Mauser 4-03986, and he, / curled up like a snail, dive.
