Application of the talent management trends in Uzbekistan. 
Application of above-mentioned 
trends of talent management may enhance talent pool in Uzbekistan and protect the country from “brain 
drain” and can lead to making use of current of demographic dividend. An excellent example of an 
organization applying these talent management trends in Uzbekistan can be Westminster International 
University in Tashkent (WIUT). This origination employs many local talents who previously studied abroad 
and positively influences to “brain gain”. The university utilizes digital people analytics and effective 
employee performance evaluation via online platform named “Annual Performance Development Review”. 
Internal recruitment of both academic and administrative workers, organization of trainings for up skilling 
talents is enhancing employee experience at this university. As a result, just in one year the university 
managed to give grade enhancement to 70 academic staff based upon their previous annual performance in 
the beginning of 2021-2022 academic years. In addition, 15 academic staff has been promoted to a higher 
academic rank as senior lectures and professors. 85% of employees retain with this organization for more 
than 5 years. Obviously, this talent management activities and usage of modern trends give opportunity to 
not only retain local and international talents, but also attract new ones. The university has great reputation as 
a working and study place. The annual number of employees, students and talented graduates are growing 
accordingly and this is mainly due to effective human capital and talent management activities of WIUT.
HR professionals in Uzbekistan can take this case as a great example of effective implementation of 
talent management modern trends. As claimed in Amcham Uzbekistan (2015) report presently Uzbekistan's 
labor market is associated with significant excess of supply of workers over existing labor demand. 
However, even with this discrepancy, the country is facing a scarcity of some professional categories, such 
as engineers, finance professionals, and others. Hence, usage of highlighted talent management trends will 
assist to HR managers of Uzbekistan in both talent attraction and retention.
