The grave deception behind the idea that “without bloodshed, there is no remission of sins” 
The noble apostle Paul erred badly, when stating that “without bloodshed, there is no remission of sins”. As it
is Written: “… 
and without bloodshed there is no remission
”- Hebrew 9:22. And what was the cause for him
to err so badly? The reason was that he stubbornly disregarded the many cases where the Hebrew Scripture 
depicts God as forgiving people’s sin without the need for any bloodshed. 
And the classic example is the inhabitants of Nineveh, to whom God granted full forgiveness, without the

need of blood; but rather in response to a sincere act of repentance (“
And God saw what they did, that they 
turned from their evil way; and He repented of the evil that he had said he would do them, and he did not 
do it
”- Jonah 3:10). 
In fact, Hebrew Scripture teaches that, if the Israelites were to find themselves exiled from their land [and 
therefore far from the Holy Temple, which was the only place where they were authorized to offer atoning 
sacrifices], they could always confess their wickedness, and turn back to God. And, if they were to do such a 
thing, they could be assured that God would forgive their faults, and pardon their sins; even if it was 
impossible for such repentance to be accompanied by an atoning sacrifice. 
As it is written: «
If they sin against you
... and you hand them over before the enemy, to be captive and take 
them to an enemy land... if they turn, and pray to you in the land of those who captivated them, 
and say: “We
sinned, we have done evil, we have committed impiety
”; and
