…and pray to you with their faces toward their land…and toward the house that I have 
built for your name, you will hear in heaven…and 
you will forgive your people who had sinned against you,
and all their transgressions with which they have rebelled against you
...”- 1 Kings 8:46-50. 
Not only does God's Law state that atonement can be obtained without the shedding of blood, but it can be 
obtained with something as simple as an incense offering. As is written: “And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a
censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and 
put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, 
and make an atonement for them
. And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the 
congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: 
and he put on incense, and made an 
atonement for the people
”- Numbers 16:46-47. 
Why can temple incense atone for our sins? Simply because the former was a symbol of the sincere prayer 
[of contrition], which equals in merit to all incense and sacrifices offered in the Temple. As is written: “Let 
my prayer be set forth before thee as incense
; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice”- 
Psalm 141:2, KJV. 
In short, God’s mercy towards human beings is freely available to all; there are no strings attached to it; no 
need to believe in any particular sacrifice (blood sacrifice, guilt sacrifice, burnt sacrifice, etc), any particular 
religion (Judaism, Samaritanism, Christianity, Islam, etc), nor any particular person (Moses, Jesus, 
Muhammad, Joseph smith, Ellen G. White, etc)-- all you need to do in order to receive forgiveness is to 
repent from your evil (pride, deception, immorality, injustice, cruelty, etc), and start practicing the goodness 
commanded by the Almighty upon the two stone tablets. 
As is written: “
