Lesson: The Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan
Topic: Gossip
Lead-in
Objective: concentrate students attention to the dialogue between neighbours.
Materials: Handout 1 (the dialogue)
Time: 10 min
Procedure: At the beginning of the lesson teacher gives handout to the students which was written the dialogue. Students try to understand the conversation.
A street
Characters Mrs Jones, from number 1.
Mrs Maggs, a friend of Mrs Jones
Mrs Kray, from number 3
Miss Fox, from number 2
Mr Jones, Mrs Jones' husband
Mrs Maggs rings doorbell at number I. Mrs Jones comes to the door crying. Mrs Kray is cleaning her doorstep at number 3... She tries to listen to the conversation outside number 1.
Mrs Jones: {Crying) Oh hello, Mrs Maggs.
Mrs Maggs: Oh dear, what's the matter?
Mrs Jones: {Crying) I've lost my Sammy.
Mrs Maggs: Who's Sammy?
Mrs Jones: My cat.
Mrs Maggs: Where's he gone?
Mrs Jones: (Crying more) I don't know - he's lost!
Mrs Maggs: puts her arm round Mrs Jones.
Mrs Maggs: Oh dear - don't cry. He'll come back. When did you last see him?
Mrs Jones: He had his dinner last night, and that's the Mrs Jones He had his dinner last night, and that's the last time I saw him. (Crying loudly) He often stays out at night but he always comes home for breakfast ... boo hoo.
Mrs Maggs: What does he look like?
Mrs Jones: (Crying loudly) He's gorgeous. He's black
with white ears and a white tail. And I love nim.
