According to their grammatical structure languages can be synthetic and analytical.
In analytical - the grammatical relations between words are expressed by means of the form words and word order. Two forms are mostly proper to verbs. Its form word has no lexical meaning and expresses different grammatical categories: mood, person, tense, voice, and a notional word ( infinitive or a participle). The 2 forms are:

  • tense and aspect of the verb forms ( continuous, perfect, all future forms ).

  • The passive voice.

  • Subjunctive mood.

Every sentence must have a predicate, and every predicate must have a subject. The subject and the predicate are the main parts of the sentence. The subject of a sentence is the person or thing doing the action or being described.
The attribute, the object and the adverbial modifiers are the secondary parts of the sentence.
1. The Subject of a sentence may be expressed by a noun, by a pronoun
substituting noun, by a numeral both cardinal and ordinal, by a substantivized adjective or participle, by an infinitive or gerund, by a group of words, by a whole subject clause.
2. The Predicate provides information about the subject, such as what the subject is doing or what the subject is like. The Predicate in English may be Simple, Compound and Group-verb.
A Simple Predicate is expressed by a finite verb only which may be in any tense, voice, or mood.
A Compound Predicate consists of a link-verb and a predicative. The link-verb links the subject and the predicative and shows the tense, the voice and the mood, and agrees with the subject in number and in person. The predicative is characterized by the subject. The predicative may be expressed by a noun or an adjective. In this case it is called a Compound Nominal Predicate.
A Compound Predicate consists either of a modal verb (or a modal expression) the infinitive or the gerund (Compound Modal Verbal Predicate); or of a verb showing the beginning, the continuation, or the end of the action the infinitive or the gerund (in which case it is called a Compound Aspective Predicate).
