Credit noun, verb
A unit that represents a successfully finished part of an educational course
Curriculum
The subjects which make up an educational program. They are taught differently in different contexts and in different cultures.
Database noun
a large amount of information stored in a computer system in such a way that it can be easily looked at or changed
Desensitize verb
To cause someone to experience something, usually an emotion or a pain, less strongly than before
Deconstruct verb
to break something down into its separate parts in order to understand its meaning, especially when this is different from how it was previously understood
Dominate verb, dominant adjective
To have a very strong influence over what happens. If a particular learner is dominant in class, then other learners get less chance to participate actively. If a teacher dominates, the lesson is teacher-centered.
Draft noun + verb
A draft is a piece of writing that is not yet finished, and may be changed. A writer drafts a piece of writing. That is, they write it for the first time but not exactly as it will be when it is finished. See re-draft, process writing.
Encourage verb, encouragement noun
To help someone to feel confident and able to do something
Enthusiasm noun
A feeling of energetic interest in a particular subject or activity and an eagerness to be involved in it
Evaluation noun, evaluate verb
The process of judging or calculating the quality, importance, amount, or value of something
Execution noun, Execute verb
The act of doing or performing something, especially in a planned way
Extracurricular
(of activities or subjects) not part of the usual school or college course
Feedback noun + verb, give, provide feedback.
1. To tell someone how well they are doing. Teachers might give learners feedback at a certain point in the course, or after an exercise that learners have just completed. In addition, learners can give feedback to teachers and teacher trainers give feedback to trainee teachers. 2. To communicate to a speaker that you understand (or not) what they are saying.
