INTRODUCTION
English is one of important subjects by which EFL students in Indonesia learn it. In learning English, students should be mastered the four useful skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) for communication. They can use books, magazines, radio, TV, and internet to help them in daily activities and in their environment. Besides, grammar is also needed in helping the students to master all of those skills. Grammar or structure is one of the aspects of language that should be learned by the students in order to be able to use English for communication in spoken and written forms. As we know, grammar is the basic of English. It is used in all aspects of English for instance in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Grammar, as one of the elements in English language, has an important role in the use of language. It is a description of the structure of the language and the way in which linguistic units such as word, phrases, and clauses are combined to produce sentences in the language. By following the rules, the pattern of the sentence can be identified and readers will easily understand the sentence. With grammar, words can be arranged to form some acceptable English sentences. It can be concluded that we should know English grammar in order to be able to use English.
The aim of the present research is to explore the classification of techniques for analyzing the usage of plural and singular forms of noun in English language.
The general aims define the following objectives of the research:
1. To explore the rule plural and singular forms of noun in English language
2. To consider how to use in sentences.
3. To study effective techniques for developing knowledge in terms of plural and singular forms of noun in English language
The object of the given research is the process of usage plural and singular forms of noun in English language
The subject is the ways of developing pupils’ knowledge of plural and singular forms of noun in English language
The major methods used in the research process are: the method of linguistic description and analysis, which let us create the theoretical basis of the present course paper. The method of continuous selection was used to single the research material out. The structural, formalization methods were used for working with the results got in the research process. The research material of the work is the exercises taken from different modern course books and manuals. The given material presents a broad field for research. It also gives us an opportunity to rich the set goals of the present research.
The sources of the research paper while investigating the given qualification work are the works of well-known methodists and the Internet web sites which are given in the references that follows the conclusion.
The theoretical value of the research paper is for those willing to take up their future carrier in the field of teaching methodology as valuable reference to the subject matter of Methodology, English for Specific Purposes, in teaching language skills.
The practical value of this work is that the suggested modern methods of teaching grammar and analysing activities can be applied into FL classes and revealed significance of activities of plural and singular forms can be used in teaching English.
