I worked as a math teacher at a school in my village before working at the Presidential School. One
of the students I saw there, Ozodbek, was very talented. I planned to work with him separately. But
he used to miss a lot of lessons. Then I talked to his class teacher and found out that Ozodbek's
family income was not good enough. His mother was unemployed and his father was a hired laborer.
Then I decided to help Ozodbek and took him to my house with the permission of his parents. We
started living together, dealing with math more deeply with him. I would pay for his school expenses
myself. He was in 6th grade at the time and won 1st place in the Uychi District Math Olympiad that
year. I was so happy and proud of myself and him. This is the only case I have encountered myself.
Usually, in rural areas of Uzbekistan, there are children who do not receive quality education due to
a lack of money or school supplies. I’m glad I was able to help at least one of these guys. Now
Ozodbek is in 8th grade and even after I left school he is still doing math independently and plans to
become a mathematician in the future.
