Lesson aims:

1. To present and practice vocabulary to talk about favourite animals

2. To practice reading about pets using target vocabulary

3. To practice listening and speaking on the theme " Pets"


Objectives:

Learning Outcomes:

To present new vocabulary ( adjectives)

To explain using modal verb" can"



To be able to use new vocabulary in speech

Correctly using modal verb " can "

To learn to write about favourite animals

Warm - up :

Teacher shows pupils 3 physical activities to do while listening to the song and plays the music.

Pre - reading activity:

Teacher shows some pictures and asks following questions :
1. What animal is this ?

2. Where can you see this animal ?

3. What can this animal do?
Teacher listens to pupils and explains them how to use the modal verb " can "

For example :


I can do

He cannot do

Can you do ? ...

While activity: Matching

Teacher gives handouts to each pupil .
Match the words with pictures.
Words: Pet, snake , soft , favourite, furry, feed

After this activity pupils read a small text .


Listening activity:

Teacher plays a recording which tells a small text . Pupils are given handouts and there is a text with gaps . Pupils should fill in the gaps using Vocabulary on the board.


Handout

Listen and fill inthe gaps.

I have a new ........... It is a .......... . Its name is Sam . Snakes are my favourite animals. They are .........and long. My sister helps me to .......... my pet snake. Sam can eat meat and ........... .
After filling in the gaps they turn their handouts over and check their answers by reading the text.

Reading text: My new pet


I have a new pet. It is a snake . Its name is Sam . Snakes are my favourite animals. They are soft and long. My sister helps me to feed my pet snake. Sam can eat meat and fruits .

Questions for writing answers:

Example: . Have you got a pet?

— Yes , i have got a cat

1. What is your favourite animal?

Answer: My favourite ........................

2. What can your pet eat?

Answer : My pet can ...........................

3. Describe your pet.

Answer: My pet is ............................


Post activity: Speaking and writing

Teacher divides pupils into two groups.

Pupils from group A make a sentence and tell it to the Group B one pupil should write the sentence on the board . Teacher and Group A check it and give Group B points . Then Groups change their turn .


Pupils do the physical activities with their teacher while listening to the song

Pupils try to answer these questions(1. With group 2. individually 3. Individually)

Pupils listen to the teacher and copy the rules

Pupils match the given words with pictures individually

Pupils are given handouts. They read their handouts and try to predict with their teacher . Then they will listen to the recording

Pupils listen and fill in the gaps

Pupils read the text individually and write answers to the following questions.

Pupils from Group A should make a sentence about pets and Group B representative pupil should write it on the board . Then they change turns.



Closure

Teacher marks pupils and give homework.
Homework: Ask their parents about their childhood pets and take some notes on their notebook.


Pupils take marks and write down the hometask.
